I Want More Features
Scry is not going to get much more advanced than it is currently. Some new features are planned for later releases, as described in Coming Attractions below.
If you're looking for more advanced photo album features, I recommend Bharat Mediratta's excellent and comprehensive Gallery photo album system.
Known Limitations
- Scry has only been tested on Linux and UNIX systems. With correctly formatted path names, Scry should work without modification on Windows or MacOS X.
- Scry supports only JPEG files. Support for other formats may be included in a later release.
- Scry will not run on versions of PHP earlier than 4.1. This is very unlikely to change in the future; if you're stuck with an old version of PHP, it's time for your host to upgrade.
- On some systems, image quality may not be acceptable with GD versions before 2.0.
Coming Attractions
Here's whats planned for future releases in rough order of priority. No release dates promised or implied:
- Windows support
- More image types (PNG, GIF, etc.)
- Display links for non-image files in album
- Additional templates
- Support for command line image resizing programs (i.e. relax GD requirement)
As always, tested patches against the latest version are always welcome. New templates are also welcome and will be incorporated into the next release.
